This Is Deliberate

Mon Oct 12, 2009, 12:29 PM
A lot has been happening in the last few days, and will happen for the rest of the week.

There is still much to be submitted, but many other things are being done and I do not know when I will get around to this.

Currently I am at work on a few new fractal movies, one of which has finished rendering and now awaits an intro sequence and music.

Also, I have just finished a huge print job which required me to print on both sides of the paper, which until now I was reluctant to do because it was difficult to get everything to line up until I figured out the print offsets. Next time I should remember to use thicker paper so there is no bleedthrough.

And there is the little matter of my death knight going for the Insane title, which requires months of grinding for reputation.

More art soon!

Suggested Gawking

Tue Oct 6, 2009, 1:01 PM
Professor Gawking has retired from his post as Spielbergian Professor of--

wait. wrong story.

Anyway, whenever I've posted some fractallographies, I always look at what's being submitted around the same time. On this occasion I came across this other guy's work, and it reminds me of what I used to attempt to do before I got Ultra Fractal.* Absolutely great stuff and highly recommended.

*And who's to say I won't try to do this sort of work again? It's fun and doesn't require long rendering times.

----

In other news, I am enjoying a lot of crazy new music. Muse has once again made themselves sound more like Queen than ever before, but why are critics pouncing on this as though it were a bad thing? Why can't a group sound however they want to?

The Beatles' new stereo releases kind of caught me by surprise, thus fulfilling John Lennon's prophecy ("So Sgt. Pepper took you by surprise"...). I noticed the female parental unit going on about how I don't need it because I already have the albums on CD, and how important is stereo or remastering anyway? I need to get her to actually LISTEN to the new release so she can appreciate it. She used to complain about messing with DVD and being happy with the VHS stuff, so it's just a matter of her disliking the "NEW IMPROVED!!" marketing.

Bleah, wall of text. Have to stop now.

New Fractal Art!

Tue Sep 29, 2009, 5:17 PM
I've decided to start submitting some more of my fractallographies. They've been piling up, you see, and I'm going to have some free time this week...

Some of them have been in limbo for over 2 years, and it's a miracle that my hard drive hasn't busted or anything during all this time.

I will only be submitting four new ones per day, but I should get enough uploaded over the next couple of weeks or so.

Something rather annoying has come about. Bit of a story there. I went to move my pending render jobs (about 20 or so) to the older computer which has Ultra Fractal 5 on it. The newer comp has the internet connection, which goes down after running Ultra Fractal 4 for more than an hour or so, thus necessitating the move.

Backing up the job and moving them to the older comp was no problem. Restoring the jobs to UF5 was no problem. Getting them to work was.

The source and destination URLs were all wrong, because the old comp uses an "Owner" subdirectory whereas the new one has "HP_Administrator"... so I tried creating the directory folders and even putting in the necessary files in the source folder. Still wouldn't run.

So, looks like my internet connection will have to suffer until the thousands of hours have passed for these renders (which include 3 movies and some very large and complicated pictures)...

Oh, and one more thing about prints. Until I get a request for a print, I will not make any of the new work available as one. But, and this is the important thing, IF YOU REQUEST A PRINT I WILL EXPECT YOU TO BUY ONE ONCE IT IS AVAILABLE. Please do.
